Kasaragod: Hundreds of students participated in a protest march to the Head Post Office in Kasaragod, demanding action over the NEET examination question paper leak, which threw the future of lakhs of students into uncertainty, and over the death of a student who died by suicide after being distressed by the cancellation of the exam.

The march, organized by the district committee of the SFI, was met with police intervention. Authorities erected barricades in front of the Head Post Office to stop the protesters. When students attempted to cross the barricades, police used water cannons and also carried out a baton charge.

The protest began near the New Bus Stand area in Kasaragod. The demonstration in front of the Head Post Office was inaugurated by SFI Central Committee member Arya Prasad. District President Adinan Chattanchal presided over the event. M Anuraj and Kavitha Krishnan also addressed the gathering, while K P Vaishnav delivered the welcome speech.

The protest follows the death of Aija Mahesh, a native of Pallikkara, who died by suicide at a coaching centre in Pala a few days ago after experiencing severe mental distress related to the cancellation of the NEET examination.

Students raised slogans and demands including, “NEET is Not Neat,” “Let There Be No More Aijas,” and calls for a comprehensive investigation into the student's death and the examination irregularities.
