SDPI Leader Arrested for Sexually Assaulting Minor Girl on KSRTC Bus in Kodungallur

Kodungallur: Police have arrested a leader of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl on a KSRTC bus. The accused has been identified as M.K. Shameer, a native of Kothaparamba, and the former secretary of the SDPI Kaipamangalam constituency committee. He is also a state leader of the party’s labour wing, the Social Democratic Trade Union (SDTU).
The incident happened on Thursday evening while the girl was travelling from Ernakulam to Kodungallur on a KSRTC bus. Shameer misbehaved with the girl during the journey. The survivor immediately informed the bus staff about the incident. Immediately, the KSRTC employees stopped the bus in front of the Kodungallur Police Station and handed over the accused to the police.
Based on the girl’s complaint, the Kodungallur Police registered a case and arrested Shameer. Further investigation is underway.
