Malappuram: Samastha Kerala Jemiyyathul Ulama (Kanthapuram faction) has expressed strong opposition to the "political Islamist" ideologies promoted by Jamaat-e-Islami, warning that such views are incompatible with India's secular, democratic fabric. A resolution passed at Samastha’s 100th anniversary convention in Kottakkal criticized these ideologies as dangerous and divisive, emphasizing that they threaten the country’s pluralistic values.

The resolution highlights the long-standing efforts by political Islamist organizations to isolate religious communities from the broader society, fostering communal polarization. It cautions that forging electoral alliances with groups that promote destructive ideological agendas will jeopardize India's unity and pluralism.

This statement from Samastha comes at a time when the UDF has announced a political alliance with Jamaat-e-Islami, a religious nationalist group. The resolution condemns the mixing of religion with politics, warning that such a practice reduces religion to a mere tool of power politics, undermining the core principles of democracy and encouraging communalism.

Samastha’s resolution calls on political parties to distance themselves from opportunistic alliances that empower political Islamists. It urges believers to reject such alliances and instead remain vigilant in upholding democratic values and secular principles.
