Kottayam: Even in her passing, 66 -year- old Rosamma Ulahannan chose to give the gift of life. The Pala native, who was declared brain dead following a tragic road accident, has become a symbol of compassion and courage for many.

Rosamma, of Puthattukunnel House in Mundupalam, met with an accident on the night of November 5, 2025, around 10.30 p.m. She was rushed to a private hospital in Pala and later shifted to Caritas Hospital, Kottayam, where doctors did everything they could to save her. When hope faded and brain death was confirmed on November 11, her grieving family made a decision that will live on, to donate her organs, said health minister veena george in her facebook post.

Through that selfless choice, Rosamma’s two kidneys, liver, and corneas were given to patients in need. One kidney and both corneas were transplanted at Kottayam Government Medical College, the other kidney at Ernakulam Medical Trust Hospital, and the liver at Caritas Hospital.

In their darkest hour, Rosamma’s loved ones found the strength to help others see, breathe, and live again. Their act of generosity has touched many hearts, and the medical fraternity has expressed deep gratitude for their courage.

The coordination of the organ donation was carried out by the Kerala State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (K-SOTTO).

Rosamma Ulahannan’s final act reminds us that even in loss, kindness can shine, turning one family’s sorrow into a miracle of hope for others. Minister veena george expressed her condolences and said she is joining with the grief of the family members.
