Wayanad: Widespread protests have erupted against the UDF for collaborating with the BJP in the Pulppally Panchayat’s standing committee elections, which is currently governed by the LDF. BJP members reportedly voted for the UDF candidates for the Development Standing Committee and Health and Education Standing Committee.

As a reciprocal arrangement, the UDF stepped aside in the Welfare Committee’s reserved women’s seat, allowing a BJP member to win.

The CPI(M) Wayand district secretary K rafeeq has criticized the Muslim League’s action in collaborating with the BJP, pointing out that the League should be fighting for minority protection.

Seat Distribution in the Panchayat: LDF – 9 seats, UDF – 8 seats, BJP – 4 seats.

During the voting for Health and Education Standing Committee, UDF, which has 8 seats, received 12 votes. The LDF candidate received 9 votes
