Kannur: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that joining the Sangh Parivar is not for them, but for those who guarded the RSS shakhas, stood with the kar sevaks, and withdrew the case against Praveen Togadia. “Our stand against the RSS is well known in this state. It comes from lived experience. The position we held yesterday is the same today and will remain the same tomorrow,” he said.

He added that the communal agenda of Jamaat-e-Islami and similar forces will never succeed. “Jamaat-e-Islami’s communal influence is strongly visible within the League. We will not accept any form of communalism, and our stand has been consistent,” he said. The Chief Minister also criticised Congress and the League for supporting the divisive strategies of the Sangh Parivar.

“Congress has always bowed before the RSS. A Congress leader himself admitted publicly that he guarded an RSS branch. Congress withdrew the case filed against Praveen Togadia for delivering a communal, hateful speech in Kozhikode. They also withdrew the case against those who attacked the police to secure government jobs for RSS leaders. PK Kunhalikutty, who was then a minister, was removed from the team visiting Marad as per RSS instructions,” he alleged.

He added that during the Marad visit, Kunhalikutty was left behind at the Kozhikode Guest House by the then Chief Minister, while he himself visited the riot-hit area. “Why did they surrender to RSS threats? We never sought anyone’s permission to visit Marad. We have always taken a strong stand against the Sangh Parivar. We were never bystanders during the Thalassery riots; we stood with the victims,” he said.

“Congress leaders themselves have said there are people who are with Congress by day and with the RSS by night. Jamaat-e-Islami candidates are being announced from Panakkad. This is not healthy for the state. One day, Jamaat-e-Islami will swallow the League, and it is better the League recognizes this danger,” he warned.

He pointed out that Congress, the League, and the BJP had once entered into an electoral understanding. “Former BJP president K Raman Pillai had publicly stated this. KG Marar has written about it in his autobiography. Former police officer Jayaram Padikkal, who acted as mediator, has also revealed this. Those trying to label us as Sanghis must not forget these facts,” the Chief Minister said.

He added that some people claim he met RSS leaders. “Those meetings were held in the capacity of Chief Minister and were intended to reduce conflicts. It was part of my responsibility. Misinterpreting these actions will not work in Kerala. The people of Kerala are not ones who believes propaganda unquestioningly,” he said.

On education policy, the Chief Minister reiterated Kerala’s strong opposition to the Central government’s new education policy. “Kerala will not implement it. This is the guarantee given by the LDF. We will not implement the PM SHRI scheme here. What troubles us is the Centre’s stand that states not signing the scheme will be denied rightful funds. Even then, we will not accept their policy,” he said.
