Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala's progress is built on the unity and the solidarity of its people, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, while answering to a question posed by actor Mammootty during the silver jubilee celebrations of Kairali TV.

Mammootty asked how the Chief Minister managed to face various crises — including natural disasters and pandemics — with such determination, challenges that few other Chief Ministers in India have encountered. CM replied that it was the collective unity shown by the people of Kerala that gave the strength to overcome every crisis. “Kerala has proven that nothing is impossible,” he said.

When asked about the difference between his first and second terms as the Chief Minister of the state, he said that after the people re-elected his government in 2021, the focus was on implementing the projects launched since 2016 more efficiently to deliver better results. “The mission to make Kerala free from extreme poverty is part of that effort,” he explained.

In the final question, Mammootty asked how the CM personally dealt with criticism and resistance that he has faced both as a political leader and an individual. The Chief Minister replied that such things do not affect him. “Many of those are deliberately created issues. I don’t have time to chase after them. There are more important tasks to focus on, and fulfilling those responsibilities will help the state progress further,” he said.
