Perumbavoor: A municipal councillor has evicted the office of MLA Eldose Kunnappilly after he failed to offer her the chairperson post. The office had been operating from a rented building owned by 20th ward councillor AG Jessy of Perumbavoor Municipality.
The office, located behind the KSRTC stand, was set up on the 7th of last month. On the morning of the municipal chairperson election, a board identifying the building as the MLA’s office was removed from the gate. Reports indicate that the electrical connection was also cut, and the councillor asked that all office belongings be cleared within two days.
Kunnappilly had initially used this building when he first became an MLA but later moved to another property in Pattal due to a rental dispute. AG Jessy, a senior Congress activist and former councillor in 2015, reportedly rented the building again after Kunnappilly promised her the chairperson post during the recent municipal elections. The MLA has declined to comment on the incident.
In the current term in Perumbavoor Muncipality, the chairperson post will be shared between Congress leaders K N Sangeetha and Annie Martin. Jessy, who voted for Sangeetha in the chairperson election, reportedly boycotted the vice-chairperson poll.
