Thiruvalla: Nithinraj Action Council Pathanamthitta district vice president Ajimon Chalaakkeeril was remanded in custody after hartal supporters he led blocked a cancer patient and his wife at Thiruvalla bus stand.
The patient, heading from Angamaly to a Kozhencherry private hospital, was prevented from boarding a connecting bus despite explaining his medical emergency. Hartal enforcers refused passage even after learning of his condition. Police later intervened to escort him to treatment.
Facing charges including attempted murder, Ajimon was arrested following a High Court directive for strict action against hartal violence and a complaint by the patient's wife. Remanded Wednesday noon, he was shifted to Mavelikkara sub-jail. Nine other supporters were arrested but granted station bail
