Allegations of UDF–Police Nexus Surface in Palakkad After Election Victory

Palakkad: Following the election victory, allegations have emerged of a nexus between the UDF and sections of the police in Palakkad district. Reports suggest that pro-Congress police officials held discussions with UDF leaders. A photograph of police personnel visiting newly elected MLA Ramesh Pisharody at a hotel has also surfaced.

The visit and discussions reportedly took place with the knowledge of Shafi Parambil and Rahul Mamkootathil. It is alleged that, following the election celebrations, a planned attack by UDF workers on the district committee office of the CPI(M)—along with police entering the office and assaulting workers—was carried out under the cover of this alleged deal.

Several LDF workers were reportedly injured in the police action, with some sustaining serious injuries.

Sources further claim that a list of police officers to be transferred had already been prepared and handed over to UDF leadership. Senior officials, including those in the AR camp, are said to be on the list. There are also allegations of a plan to retain only UDF-aligned officers in the district and to file false cases against CPI(M) workers.

Additionally, it has been alleged that after the UDF’s victory on Monday, a Sub-Inspector at the Town North police station promised biryani to fellow officers. UDF workers attacked the district committee office in the presence of police. A person who threw firecrackers during the incident was briefly detained and later released. Three LDF workers were seriously injured in the police assault.
