Manorama Report on ED Probe "Blatant Lie", Says Muhammad Riyas; Threatens Legal Action

Thiruvananthapuram: CPI(M) state secretariat member and MLA P A Muhammad Riyas has dismissed a Malayala Manorama report concerning the Enforcement Directorate investigation as completely false, announcing that he would pursue legal action against the publication over the story.

In a Facebook post, Riyas said he had already responded in detail to the media on all matters connected to the ED probe. He called the Manorama report's claim that money received by Veena for her services from CMR had been routed through his account to various other individuals' accounts, and that he had been contacted twice over the phone seeking clarification on the matter absurd .

Riyas said that since the investigation is ongoing and he is contesting the matter through legal channels, he will not respond to every baseless report that surfaces daily. He expressed confidence that, having done nothing wrong, he would be able to face the legal process with full conviction. He added that he and the CPI(M) had already flagged the political dimensions behind such reporting.
