Stop 'Immature Statements', Focus on Rescue Efforts: P A Mohammed Riyas to UDF Ministers

Kalpetta: CPI(M) State Secretariat member P A Mohammed Riyas has urged the Chief Minister and other ministers to stop making "immature statements" regarding the landslide at Kalladi in Wayanad and instead focus on coordinating rescue operations.
Speaking to reporters at Kalladi, Riyas said this was not the time for ministers to make individual remarks every time they faced the media.
"Each minister is putting forward a different version of the incident. One says it is a man-made disaster, another claims it does not fall under his department's responsibility, another blames the previous government, while the Chief Minister is accusing the contractors. There is no coordinated approach to handling the situation," he said.
Riyas also alleged that the Chief Minister was attempting to place the entire blame on the contractors.
"People have started asking what the government was doing all these days. The Chief Minister should adopt a position that brings everyone together and ensures coordinated action," he said.
He added that the CPI(M) would extend support and remain involved in the rescue operations from beginning to end.
