Kalamasheri, Kochi: The Snehaveedu project, one of the flagship initiatives in Kalamassery constituency aimed at providing dignified housing to those without shelter, has reached a new milestone. With three more houses handed over in the past week, the total number of homes constructed under the project has risen to 13.
The 13th house under the Snehaveedu project was officially handed over to Sheela, widow of the late Santosh, by Minister P Rajeev near Kunnepalli, Alangad Thiruvallur. Construction of nine more homes is currently in progress, underscoring the project’s steady advancement.

Initially, the Snehaveedu project had planned to construct 20 homes in its first phase. However, thanks to the generous support of donors and well-wishers, 22 houses are now slated for completion, going beyond the original target. The initiative prioritises widows, families in financial distress, and other vulnerable groups, ensuring that those most in need benefit first.
Since its inception, the project has been supported by several institutions including the Chittilappilly Foundation, Kochi Airport Company, Sudkemi, and Inkel, while the Rajagiri Foundation manages its execution. Each house, measuring at least 500 square feet, involves an investment of around 8 lakh rupees.
The project continues to seek community participation, with organisers inviting collective efforts to expand its reach and success.
