Only LDF Can Defeat BJP; Congress Engaged in False Propaganda: M. V. Govindan

Thiruvananthapuram: CPI(M) State Secretary M. V. Govindan stated that only the Left Democratic Front (LDF) can defeat the BJP and that the UDF, which opposes development and is misleading the people through false propaganda. He also dismissed the opposition's claim that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan won with the support of the RSS, calling it completely irrelevant. According to him, it was the Congress that has always been allied with the RSS, and at that time, neither the RSS nor its affiliated organisation, the Janata Party, were in competition. He mocked V. D. Satheesan, saying that he was only spreading lies.

Regarding the Emergency, Govindan said that the Left had taken a stand against communal forces and Congress's authoritarian-fascist approach across India. He criticised Congress for now trying to make claims about the Emergency without acknowledging the democratic rights it had denied to the people at that time. Govindan also strongly condemned the communal remarks made by BJP candidate B. Gopalakrishnan in the Guruvayur constituency.

The argument by B. Gopalakrishnan that a Hindu candidate should represent the constituency was called blatant communalism by Govindan. He pointed out that while BJP talks about communalism, UDF leaders also say religion is the issue. Govindan called on the secular people of Kerala to unite against these communal stances. He also criticised the remarks made by Congress leaders against LDF candidate U. Pratibha in Kayamkulam. He remarked that the continued presence of Rahul Mamkoottil's supporters in Congress is an example of this, and that democratic forces cannot accept this.
