Thiruvananthapuram: The accident insurance coverage under the NORKA Roots Pravasi ID card has been increased from 4 lakh to 5 lakh rupees, while the coverage under the Pravasi Raksha Insurance Policy (NPRI) has been raised from 2 lakh to 3 lakh rupees. The revised benefits were announced by NORKA Roots CEO Ajit Kolassery, with updated service charges taking effect from April 1.
Malayalis residing in other Indian states—not just abroad—are now eligible to enroll in the Pravasi ID scheme. Furthermore, the Pravasi ID card will now serve as valid identification for sponsors applying for NRI medical seats in India.
The service charges for the Pravasi ID card, NRK insurance card, student ID card, and NPRI have also been revised. The updated rate for the Pravasi ID card, student ID card, and NRK insurance card is 408 rupees each (including GST), up from 372 rupees. The revised rate for the NPRI is 661rupees (including GST).
Effective April 1, non-residents holding a valid ID card or NPRI policy will be eligible for financial assistance of 50,000 rupees for repatriation in case of accidental death abroad, and 30,000 rupees if the accidental death occurs within India.
