Thiruvananthapuram: NetraSemi, a fabless semiconductor startup based at the Trust Research Park—an initiative of the Higher Education Department—has secured Rs. 107 crore in Series A funding, Higher Education Minister Dr. R. Bindu announced. The minister said this is a significant milestone for Kerala’s growing semiconductor ecosystem and will give new wings to the state’s deep-tech ambitions. The funding was raised from Soho and Unicorn India Ventures.

Founded in 2020 by Jyothis Indirabhai, Sreejit Varma, and Deep Geetha, NetraSemi has introduced new approaches in the field of edge AI computing. Their specialty lies in low-power domain-specific system-on-chips (SoCs). Their key products, such as Netra E2000 and R1000, are widely used today in robotics, autonomous systems, surveillance, and smart IoT devices. These patented system-on-chips, based on heterogeneous parallel processing architecture, now support over a hundred AI/ML applications.

NetraSemi has also received recognition under MeitY’s Design Linked Initiative (DLI) and Chip 2 Startup (C2S) schemes, making it one of the most promising semiconductor startups in India.

The minister said, “Through the success stories of startups like NetraSemi, Trust Research Park is fulfilling its goal of bridging academic research and industry.”

Modeled after the IIT Madras Research Park, the Trust Park set up by the Higher Education Department operates as a platform that turns research into market-ready solutions by providing world-class R&D facilities and mentoring. The achievement by NetraSemi is not just a company’s growth indicator but also reflects the strength of the innovation ecosystem envisioned by Trust Park. This accomplishment confirms Kerala’s potential to become a global hub combining semiconductors
