Thiruvananthapuram: CPI(M) state secretary M V Govindan has described the ED’s pasting of a notice at Opposition Leader Pinarayi Vijayan’s residence as part of a political drama. He said the party would respond to the matter both legally and politically.

He said the UDF is adopting a stance that helps both ED and the BJP gain a foothold in Keralam. He alleged that after it became clear that there were no facts to support the Exalogic case initially pursued by the ED, the agency had moved on to level hawala allegations against Minister P A Muhammad Riyas, his family members and friends.

M V Govindan said that when the ED directed senior police officials in Keralam to register an FIR in connection with the case, similar requests made by the agency in Punjab and Tamil Nadu had not been accepted. However, he alleged that the V D Satheesan government had agreed to the ED’s demand.

Describing the ED’s action as part of a baseless false case, M V Govindan said pasting the notice at Pinarayi Vijayan’s residence was a staged exercise. He reiterated that the party would strongly challenge the matter through both political and legal means.
