CPI(M) to Plan Measures to Correct Wrong Trends, Says MV Govindan

Kozhikode: The CPI(M) extended state committee meeting will formulate plans to correct undesirable trends that may emerge while functioning within a capitalist society, party state secretary M V Govindan said. The party will work to improve its members and strengthen party education, he said at a press conference in Kozhikode.

Govindan said serious intervention from the grassroots level was necessary to ensure that organisational activities move forward in line with the party's objectives, address shortcomings and resolve complaints and issues emerging at the local level.

He said right-wing ideas, including communalism and apolitical tendencies, were gaining influence in Keralam's political landscape by weakening the Left. The key challenge was to determine how Left politics could be strengthened and taken forward more effectively in these circumstances, he said.

Another major issue being discussed was how the party should organise its activities in the changing social environment, Govindan said.

He also stressed the need to strengthen the party's media mechanisms to counter what he described as misinformation and misleading propaganda being carried out by right-wing media organisations.

Govindan said the extended state committee meeting would focus on developing the necessary organisational interventions and strategies to address these challenges.
