Mustafa's Body Retrieved from Lorry Cabin After Seven Hours

Kuttipuram: The body of cleaner Mustafa, who was trapped in a lorry that fell into a waterlogged quarry in Athavanad, Malappuram, has been recovered. The lorry was lifted after a seven-hour-long rescue operation, and the body trapped inside was retrieved by dismantling the lorry’s cabin.

The accident occurred at Ooroth Palliyal in Athavanad around 1 p.m. According to authorities, the vehicle, which was carrying grocery goods, lost control and fell into the quarry, which is about 65 feet deep. The lorry became fully submerged after the fall.

The driver, identified as Jafar, was rescued from the scene and taken to a nearby hospital, where he is reported to have serious spinal injuries.
