Thiruvananthapuram: Minister V. Shivankutty officially dedicated the new warehouse complex, which will play a crucial role in the development of Chala, the city’s main commercial hub. The long-held dream of traders to have a publicly owned warehouse near Chala market has now become a reality through the joint efforts of TRIDA and the Smart City Project.

A modern warehouse complex has been built at an estimated cost of RS 18.66 crore. The massive building spans across 24 acres of land, with a total area of 2,350 square meters. This warehouse will play a significant role in reducing traffic congestion in the city and ensuring the safe storage of goods. Its strategic location on the Killippalam-Attakulangara bypass makes it highly suitable for facilitating smooth cargo movement.

Minister V. Shivankutty stated during the inauguration that new job opportunities are created when industry and commerce grow. Once the warehouse complex is operational, many people will be employed, both directly and indirectly, in fields such as cargo handling, packing, and logistics. The minister added that a city becomes smart not only when buildings rise, but also when it benefits ordinary workers and traders.

The project was completed within the stipulated timeframe due to the government’s willpower and proper planning. Many activities are currently underway under the Smart City Project that are changing the face of the city of Thiruvananthapuram. The minister commended the TRIDA officials and authorities whose dedication and hard work made this project a reality.
