Thiruvananthapuram: Actress and anchor Meenakshi Anoop emphasised the importance of expressing one’s opinions freely, without fear of what others might think or say.
She was speaking at an interactive session titled ‘With Meenakshi’ held at the Students’ Corner during the Kerala Legislature International Book Festival.
Meenakshi urged children to ask questions and speak up when something seems wrong. “When I express an opinion, it’s not to create controversy; I speak only about what I truly believe is right,” she explained.
She highlighted the need to treat everyone equally and cautioned against judging people based on caste, religion, or skin colour. Reflecting on outdated social hierarchies, she said that practices such as the caste pyramid, once taught in schools, must now be questioned.
“Parents should be the first to encourage children to share their thoughts. Home is where they learn their earliest lessons. My own parents always respected my opinions and never imposed theirs on me,” Meenakshi added.
Concluding the session, she stressed that opinions are deeply personal and everyone must have the confidence to stand firm in their beliefs and perspectives.
