Thrissur: In Mattathoor Panchayat, dramatic developments are unfolding in the wake of the panchayat president elections, as UDF members who resigned from the Congress are preparing for a reconciliation with the party. In the panchayat, where a Congress-BJP alliance and defections from Congress enabled Congress members to come to power with the support of BJP, new dramatic events are once again taking shape.

The members who resigned are now preparing for a compromise. Noorjahan, who was elected as vice president, indicated that she might resign from the position. Critics say the move aims to save the face of the Congress party.

The Mattathoor issue had put Congress leaders under significant pressure and caused divisions among grassroots workers. Following this, discussions were held with the KPCC under the leadership of MLA Rojy M John. The current reconciliation is based on these discussions. There is still no clarity regarding the President Tessy Jose, who ran for the office as a Congress rebel candidate.
