Kozhikode: The massive fire at Jayalakshmi Textiles in Kozhikode has been raging for more than an hour and a half, with firefighters struggling to bring it under control despite sustained efforts.

Fire and Rescue Services personnel are attempting to douse the flames by pumping water to all floors, as it is currently impossible to enter the building due to the intensity of the blaze. The fire continues to spread rapidly inside the structure, particularly on the third floor, where flames are said to be severe. While the fire on the front portion of the building has been partially controlled, the interior remains engulfed.

Officials are using ladders to access the upper floors to assess the extent of the damage. Authorities say it is unclear how long it will take to completely extinguish the fire, as it is spreading at a dangerous pace.

Clothing stock and other materials inside the building have been completely gutted. One godown has been entirely destroyed, and the fire is now spreading to a second storage area.

Meanwhile, a specialised fire force vehicle equipped with advanced firefighting equipment is expected to arrive from Karipur Airport. Officials hope that its deployment will significantly strengthen efforts to contain and extinguish the blaze.
