LPST Rank Holders Temporarily Call Off Strike After Talks With Education Minister

Thiruvananthapuram: The 37-day protest by LPST rank holders was temporarily called off following talks with the Education Minister. Protest leader Valarmathi also ended her hunger strike.

However, the rank holders said the agitation has not been completely called off and that they will continue peaceful protests in front of the Secretariat.

They said the protest was being suspended temporarily in the hope that the government would consider their demands. The protesters warned that they would decide on further action if the assurances given by the government were not fulfilled.

The protesters also criticised the government for agreeing to hold discussions only after 37 days of protest.
