LDF Retains Kozhikode Corporation; O Sadashivan Elected as Mayor

Thiruvananthapuram: O Sadashivan of the LDF has been elected Mayor of Kozhikode Corporation, defeating UDF candidate S K Abubacker. Dr. S Jayshree of the LDF has been elected Deputy Mayor, overcoming UDF’s Fathima Tehliyya.

Sadashivan, councillor from Thadampattuthazham division, is a member of the CPI M North Area Committee. Dr. Jayshree represents the Kottuli division and currently serves as Chairperson of the Standing Committee.

BJP candidates Nampidi Narayanan and Navya Haridas also contested for Mayor and Deputy Mayor but were eliminated in the first round.

In Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, BJP’s V V Rajesh was elected Mayor, with Aasha nath as Deputy Mayor.

In Kollam Corporation, UDF’s M K Hafeez secured the Mayor’s position. The Deputy Mayor election saw controversy as Congress votes went to BJP candidate B Shailaja, who won from Asain Pallimukku in the first round.

In Kochi Corporation, Adv. V K Minimol was elected Mayor. Minimol and Shiny Mathew will share the mayoral term equally.

In Thrissur Corporation, Congress candidate Dr. Niji Justin from Kizhakkumpattukara won the Mayor’s post.

In Kannur Corporation, P Indira, the previous Deputy Mayor, was elected as Mayor.
