Kochi: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has achieved remarkable success, largely due to the effective interventions of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government, Transport Minister K B Ganesh Kumar said. On Monday, KSRTC achieved a record daily revenue of 13 crore 2 lakh rupees, marking a significant milestone in the corporation’s history. Minister Ganesh Kumar highlighted that the Left government’s dedicated efforts have been crucial in steering KSRTC back on track.

The minister pointed out that the key factors behind this achievement include the introduction of new vehicles and the implementation of essential reforms. He further assured KSRTC employees and pensioners that delays in salary and pension payments would no longer be a concern, as the government is committed to ensuring timely disbursements.

Minister Ganesh Kumar also clarified that the surge in revenue was not solely due to the influx of pilgrims to Sabarimala, as is commonly assumed. While the temple season has certainly contributed to the growth, overall revenue collections have seen a consistent rise. At Sabarimala, KSRTC is now operating 100 vehicles per hour, with routes carefully planned to maximize efficiency. Strong support from employees has been instrumental in implementing these changes, and the workforce has embraced the transformation, ensuring its success.

The minister expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, noting that the full backing from the state government has empowered KSRTC to carry out necessary reforms, yielding positive results. Minister Ganesh Kumar also highlighted a significant rise in budget tourism, which has contributed to KSRTC's growth.

Looking ahead, the minister announced the upcoming launch of business-class buses, a move that is expected to further improve services for passengers. Additionally, two new 35-seater buses will soon be procured and put into service on the Thiruvananthapuram-Ernakulam route, expanding the network and enhancing travel options for the public.

In a significant step to further promote KSRTC, the minister revealed that renowned actor Mohanlal will serve as the corporation's goodwill ambassador. He confirmed that Mohanlal had enthusiastically agreed to take on the role and will appear in KSRTC advertisements without any remuneration. This partnership, the minister stated, is expected to provide a significant boost to the corporation's visibility and public image, further strengthening KSRTC's presence in the state.
