Kottakkal: Kudumbashree units in Malappuram district have achieved ISO certification, marking an important step in improving their work quality and efficiency. The certification was announced by Minister V. Abdurahman. So far, 59 Community Development Societies (CDSs)—57 in rural areas and 2 in towns—have met the required standards.
Kudumbashree is a women collective that was launched to eradicate poverty in Kerala. Kudumbashree supports poor women by helping them form groups for self-help, small businesses, and community development. Community Development Societies (CDSs) are local organisations that coordinate these activities and provide a platform for women’s groups in villages and towns to come together, plan, and implement various welfare and income-generating projects.
ISO certification is an internationally recognised standard that ensures organisations follow quality management practices. For these CDSs, it means they have established efficient office systems, deliver timely and effective services, complete government-approved projects on schedule, and maintain clean, well-organised, and sustainable office environments.
The certificate distribution ceremony was held at the PM Auditorium in Kottakkal, where Minister Abdurahman handed over certificates to the qualifying CDSs. District Panchayat President M.K. Rafeeq presided over the event, which was also attended by MLA K.K. Abid Hussain Thangal, Kottakkal Municipality Chairperson Dr. Haneesh, Kudumbashree Programme Manager V.S. Rajesh, Senior Programme Manager M. Tajuddin, and Abdul Kalam.
Kudumbashree District Mission Coordinator B. Suresh Kumar welcomed the gathering, highlighting the importance of quality and transparency in the organisation’s functioning. Assistant District Mission Coordinator T.V. Prasad delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of the CDSs in achieving this milestone.
This certification is expected to boost the credibility of Kudumbashree units and strengthen their role in promoting women’s economic empowerment and community welfare in the region. title, slug, blurb and detailed key words placed with comma
