Kochi Metro Announces Free Parking, Special Offers for Women on Women’s Day

The Kochi Metro Rail Limited has announced special benefits for women to mark International Women's Day.

On March 8, women will be able to park their vehicles free of charge at the fully automated multi-level car parking facility at Vadakkekotta Metro Station. The free parking facility will be available from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the day.

In addition, all women who refuel their vehicles at the Kalamassery Metro Fuel Station on Women’s Day will receive a complimentary bottle of water and a chocolate.

The Vadakkekotta station hosts the city’s first fully automated multi-level car parking system that can be used directly by the public. The facility was introduced to address the growing parking needs of metro passengers and to strengthen last-mile connectivity. The structure can accommodate up to 100 cars across nine levels.

The technology-driven system is designed for ease of use. Drivers simply park their vehicles in the designated slot, and the automated system takes care of the rest of the process. This eliminates the need to search for empty parking spaces or maneuver vehicles in crowded parking areas, saving both time and effort.

Another notable feature is its affordable pricing. The parking charge is ₹15 for the first two hours and ₹25 for each additional hour. The fully covered facility also protects vehicles from sun and rain, which is particularly useful in Kerala’s tropical climate and helps reduce long-term maintenance costs.

Security has also been prioritised at the facility. With controlled access, continuous CCTV surveillance and largely automated operations with minimal human intervention, the risk of theft or damage is significantly reduced. Commuters can use the metro with confidence that their vehicles are safe.

The multi-level parking facility will operate during the regular service hours of the Kochi Metro.
