Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Tourism website (keralatourism.org) has emerged as the most visited tourism portal in India, surpassing even the Central Government’s flagship ‘Incredible India’ website, according to the global web traffic analytics firm Similarweb. The recognition comes as part of an international ranking based on visitor engagement and site traffic.
In the global list of tourism websites, Kerala ranks second—just behind Thailand—in overall web traffic and industry-related categories. The state has also secured the second position in the ranking of national tourism websites worldwide, reflecting the growing appeal and visibility of Kerala as a global travel destination.
Digital Footprint Reflects Global Appeal
Kerala’s performance is based on data compiled by Similarweb, an internationally recognized platform for web analytics that began operations in 2007. Supplementing these findings, Google Analytics reports that the Kerala Tourism website has been visited by over 6 million users, generating nearly 7.9 million sessions. Visitors have browsed more than 15 million individual web pages, with around 5.8 million people arriving at the site via direct searches.
In addition, over one million people accessed the website by directly typing the domain “keralatourism.org,” and another million reached it through digital advertisements. The website has drawn traffic from users in nearly 200 countries, underlining its broad international reach.
Tourism Minister P. A. Mohammed Riyas said the achievement reflects Kerala’s ability to adapt to the evolving preferences of global travellers. “Kerala Tourism is implementing innovative projects based on the changing interests of visitors,” the minister noted.
Pages beyond the home page have also seen significant engagement. These include sections on accommodation, popular destinations, tour packages, heli tourism, wedding venues, festival and theyyam calendars, and wellness activities such as yoga. The website is designed and maintained by Invis Private Limited, a Kerala-based digital firm.
Officials see the web ranking as a strong endorsement of Kerala’s brand in international tourism and a sign that digital outreach is becoming increasingly central to the state’s tourism strategy.
