Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala has received international recognition for its 'Entrepreneurial Year' initiative, marking a milestone in the state’s industrial growth, said P Rajeev, Minister for Industries.
The minister highlighted that the programme has instilled a strong sense of confidence among the state’s entrepreneurs. While Kerala used to see only 10,000 MSMEs launched annually, today the state averages over one lakh new enterprises every year. Between 2022 and 2025, more than three and a half lakh enterprises have been established in the state.
Breaking it down further, an average of over 400 MSMEs are launched daily, with roughly 14 new ventures approved every hour.
“These numbers translate into real impact,” Rajeev said. The initiative has earned Kerala the Best Practices in MSME recognition in India and the “Novel Innovation in Public Administration” award from the American Society for Public Administration.
The minister also cited the tangible outcomes of the programme: investments worth 22,688 crore rupees, creation of 7.5 lakh job opportunities, and the empowerment of more than one lakh women entrepreneurs.
This transformation is the real Kerala story. It is this progress that represents the Kerala model, an inclusive, innovative approach quietly setting benchmarks for others to follow, Rajeev wrote in his Facebook post.
