Kerala Organises Labour Conclave Against Anti-Worker Labour Codes

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala is taking the lead in coordinating states against the labour codes being imposed by the central government, despite opposition from workers’ movements and several state governments. With the aim of formulating an alternative policy, the state government is organising a Labour Conclave in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday. The conclave will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at 10 am at Lemon Tree Premier in Thycaud.
Labour ministers from various states—including Tarunpreet Singh (Punjab), CV Ganesan (Tamil Nadu), Sanjay Prasad Yadav (Jharkhand), and Vivek Venkataswamy (Telangana)—will attend the conclave. Kerala ministers KN Balagopal and P Rajeev will also participate. Retired Justice Gopala Gowda and Professor Shyam Sundar will be among the attendees.
CITU General Secretary Tapan Sen and AITUC General Secretary Amarjeet Kaur will take part in the discussions. A policy declaration will be issued at the conclusion of the conclave.
