Navaneeth Assumes Govt Post After Mother's Death in Hospital Collapse; Kerala Govt Fulfils Promises

Kottayam: The Kerala government has appointed Navaneeth, the son of Bindu, who tragically lost her life in the building collapse at the Kottayam Government Medical College Hospital, to a government post under the Travancore Devaswom Board.
Devaswom Minister V.N. Vasavan handed over the official appointment order to Navaneeth, who had assumed duty as an overseer at the Assistant Engineer’s Office in Vaikom taluk.
Bindu, a native of Thalayolaparambu, was killed on July 3, 2025, when a disused toilet block attached to the Orthopaedics ward of the hospital collapsed. She was at the hospital to accompany her daughter Navami for a scheduled surgery when the incident happened. Bindu was got under the debris and succumbed to internal injuries.
Following the incident, the State Cabinet had approved a financial assistance package of Rs. 10.5 lakh to the bereaved family, along with a government job for Navaneeth. The government also took full responsibility for the medical care of Navami, who sustained serious injuries in the incident.
In addition, the family's home was renovated and handed over under the ‘Sneha Veedu’ scheme, implemented with the support of the National Service Scheme (NSS) under the Higher Education Department.
Minister Vasavan, who had visited the family soon after the tragedy, said the government had fulfilled its commitment to stand by the family and support them through their loss.
