Heavy Rain Likely in Kerala; IMD Issues Yellow Alert in Several Districts

Thiruvananthapuram: Heavy rainfall is likely in Kerala in the coming days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert in several districts.
The alert has been announced for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Idukki districts on Saturday, and for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Idukki on Sunday. The IMD has warned of isolated heavy rain in these areas. Heavy rainfall is defined as rain measuring between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within 24 hours.
According to the IMD, a cyclonic circulation is present over the equatorial Indian Ocean and the adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal. Light to moderate rain is expected from the 20th to the 24th, while isolated heavy rainfall is likely on the 21st and 22nd.
