Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast elevated temperatures across Kerala from today through Saturday, with Palakkad district expected to record the highest maximum temperature of up to 40°C.

According to the IMD, Kollam district is likely to see temperatures rise to 38°C, while Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts are expected to experience maximums of up to 37°C. Thiruvananthapuram district is forecast to reach 36°C — between 2°C and 3°C above normal levels for this time of year.

The IMD has also warned that the combination of high temperatures and humid air is likely to produce hot and uncomfortable conditions across these districts, with the exception of hilly and highland areas.

Residents are advised to take adequate precautions, particularly during peak afternoon hours, and to stay hydrated and limit exposure to direct sunlight.
