Final SIR List Out: Tirur Has Highest Voters, Ernakulam Records Lowest Number of Voters in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: The Election Commission of India has published the final Special Intensive Revision (SIR) voter list for the state, bringing the total number of electors to 2,69,53,644 (2.69 crore). Of these, 1,31,26,048 are male voters, 1,38,27,319 are female voters and 277 are transgender voters.


Tirur Assembly constituency in Malappuram district has the highest number of voters in the state, with 2,52,575 electors, including 1,26,597 men, 1,25,965 women and 13 transgender voters. In contrast, the Ernakulam Assembly constituency in Ernakulam district has the lowest number of voters at 1,33,884, comprising 64,470 men, 69,411 women and three transgender voters.


At the district level, Malappuram continues to have the highest number of voters in the state with 36,15,970 electors, while Wayanad has the lowest at 6,40,947.


When the SIR process began, the state had 2.78 crore voters. Following the initial exclusion of 24.08 lakh names, the first draft list was reduced to 2,54,42,352 (2.54 crore). Notices were issued to 36.88 lakh individuals, who were subsequently heard during the hearing process. After the hearings, 53,229 ineligible voters were removed, further reducing the list to 2.53 crore. During the SIR period, 15.64 lakh new applicants were added, raising the final electorate to 2.69 crore.


After the completion of the SIR process, voter numbers declined in 11 districts, while Malappuram, Kannur and Kasaragod recorded increases. During the revision, 24.50 lakh voters were excluded and 15.64 lakh new voters were added in two phases. Despite the additions, the overall figures show a significant net decrease in the number of voters in several districts, which the Election Commisson haven't been able to explain.

Thiruvananthapuram recorded the sharpest decline, with a reduction of 3,21,582 voters. The number dropped from 28,47,907 in the old list to 25,26,325 in the final list. Ernakulam saw a decrease of 1,83,271 voters, while Thrissur recorded a reduction of 1,37,242. Kottayam and Idukki witnessed declines of 1,12,178 and 1,01,214 voters respectively.


Meanwhile, Malappuram registered the highest increase, with 2,02,796 new voters added, taking the district’s total to 36,15,970. In Kannur, the electorate increased from 21,13,255 to 21,60,497, marking a rise of 47,242 voters. Kasaragod also recorded growth, with the number rising from 10,78,256 to 10,96,241, an increase of 17,985 voters.


The Commission has made the final SIR voter list available online through its official portal and the Chief Electoral Officer’s website. Voters can verify their names by searching with their EPIC number, personal details or registered mobile number. In addition, the electoral roll can be downloaded in PDF format at the booth level by selecting the relevant district and Assembly constituency on the voter services portal.


Authorities have urged voters to check their details in the final list and ensure accuracy ahead of upcoming elections.
