Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Legislative Assembly Speaker Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan has announced that steps will be taken to allow members of the public to ask questions in the Assembly, on the lines of similar provisions in foreign Assemblies of public representatives. He said decisions would be taken to ensure public participation in the Assembly's proceedings — not just by elected representatives but by the citizens who elect them — and that experts would be consulted before implementing the initiative.

The Speaker was speaking at the inauguration of a voice acting course and studio complex launched by the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club Institute of Journalism in collaboration with Sound Park Academy.

Thiruvanchoor said he has several ideas in mind to make the Legislative Assembly more people-centric, and added that efforts would be made to convert records and books of the 138-year-old Kerala Legislative Assembly into audiobooks.

The event was presided over by Press Club President S Sreekesh, with Prof Aliyar, Sound Park Academy Director Balakrishnan Periya, IJT Director P V Murugan, P A Salim, Press Club Secretary P R Praveen, and Treasurer Vineesh among those present.
