Kerala Assembly 2025: 14th Session to Commence Tomorrow

Thiruvananthapuram: The 14th session of the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly is scheduled to begin on September 15, 2025. According to the approved calendar, the Assembly will sit for a total of 12 days between September 15 and October 10. On the first day, the Assembly will pay tributes to former Chief Minister and veteran leader V S Achuthanandan, former Speaker P P Thankachan, and current MLA from Peermade constituency, Vazhoor Soman, who recently passed away.

The session, primarily focused on legislative business, will allocate nine days for official matters and two days for private members’ business. The key bills scheduled for consideration include the Kerala General Sales Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2024, Kerala Societies Registration Bill, 2025, Kerala Guruvayur Devaswom (Amendment) Bill, 2025, and Kerala Coir Workers Welfare Cess (Amendment) Bill, 2025. In addition, the Kerala Public Records Bill, 2023, which was referred to the Select Committee after being introduced on July 11, 2024, will also be taken up during this session.

The Assembly will further consider the Kerala Public Service Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which replaces the earlier ordinance concerning expanded responsibilities of university services. The Business Advisory Committee, meeting on September 15, will finalise the detailed schedule for all bills and other government business. Discussions and voting on supplementary demands for the 2025-26 budget will take place on October 6, followed by consideration of the budget allocation bill on October 7. The session is expected to conclude on October 10.


Preparations have also begun for the 4th edition of the Kerala Legislative Assembly International Book Festival (KLIBF), which will be held from January 7 to 13, 2026, under the Assembly’s auspices.
