State Allocates Additional 214 Crore to Local Bodies

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Finance Minister K. N. Balagopal announced that the state government has sanctioned an additional 214 crore rupees for the three-tier panchayats and urban local bodies. The amount represents the seventh installment of the General Purpose Fund for the current financial year.
Of the total allocation, 151 crore rupees will go to grama panchayats, 11.03 crore to block panchayats, and 7.89 crore to district panchayats. Municipalities will receive 25.83 crore rupees, while corporations will get 18.25 crore rupees.
The government has so far disbursed a total of 10,396 crore rupees to local bodies under various heads during the ongoing financial year.
