7000 Families Receive Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) Ration Cards

Thiruvananthapuram: The government has made Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) ration cards available to an additional 7,000 families. The state distribution inauguration was conducted in Thiruvananthapuram by Minister G R Anil. The cards include 2,389 Scheduled Caste families.


The minister stated that the government’s goal is to ensure ration cards for all eligible families in the state. The public distribution system must be strengthened to guarantee food grains to every family in Kerala.


So far, the government has provided priority cards to a total of 638,445 eligible families. Over the past five years, more than 1.1 million cards have either been newly issued or upgraded.


Distribution of 40,000 pink cards will take place in the coming days. Applications for the new ration cards can be submitted from January 15 to 30. The government is moving toward the goal of ensuring that no eligible person in Kerala is left without a ration card by January.


V K Prashanth MLA presided over the event. Public Distribution Department Commissioner K Hima and District Supply Officer K V Sindhu also spoke.
