KSU–MSF Leaders Allegedly Cheated Student After Promising to Build House

Kayamkulam: A college student has alleged that KSU and MSF leaders cheated their family after promising to build a house for them. The student, from MSM College in Kayamkulam, raised the complaint.

In 2024, the college union led by an alliance of KSU and MSF had announced a house for the student, a native of Chavara and a member of an economically disadvantaged family, as part of its election manifesto. The promise was made when the family had applied for a house under the LIFE Mission scheme. The union office-bearers subsequently asked the family to withdraw the application, citing the promise to construct a house for them.

The student's family then sold gold and borrowed money to purchase land on which the house was to be built. On August 25 last year, N K Premachandran MP laid the foundation stone for the house.

The family was promised that the house would be completed within nine months. However, construction has not begun even now. KSU and MSF leaders have allegedly been avoiding the family by citing different reasons each time.

Congress and Muslim League leaders who had attended the foundation-laying ceremony have also allegedly turned their backs on the family, the student claimed.

Meanwhile, the KSU and MSF leadership said the house could not be constructed because the sponsor who had agreed to fund the project withdrew from it.
