Karuvaarakundu Murder: Girl Faced Brutal Abuse; Postmortem Today

Malappuram: According to reports, the Class 9 student who was killed in Karuvarakundu was subjected to brutal sexual assault. The girl was assaulted by her male friend, a Plus One student, after both her hands were tied behind her back. She was also brutally beaten, and there were multiple injuries on her body. After the rape, the girl was strangled to death.

The body was found at around 11 a m on Friday in a bushy area beside the railway track at Pullippadam, between Vaniyambalam and Thodiyappulam railway stations.

The two had been friends for a long time. Recently, the girl’s mother had filed a police complaint stating that the boy had trespassed into their house. The girl’s family had also warned the 16-year-old boy and asked him to stay away.

As per the available informations, on Thursday, the girl left home for school along with her younger sister. After getting down from the bus in front of the school, she went with her friend. They later reached Thodiyappulam, where the girl called her mother and informed her that she would return home soon. Her phone was switched off thereafter. Police believe the murder took place after this.

The assault was carried out after tying the girl’s hands behind her back using her own clothing. When the girl resisted, she was brutally beaten.

When the girl did not return home by 5 p m, the family lodged a complaint with the police. The police tracked the girl’s tower location, which led the investigation to the Vaniyambalam–Pullippadam area.

It was the 16-year-old accused who first informed the police about the discovery of the body. The body was found in school uniform, and the school bag was lying nearby. Though he initially claimed ignorance, the accused later confessed to the crime during detailed questioning. Police said the accused admitted to raping the girl.

Police also stated that the 16-year-old is addicted to drugs. The girl’s body, currently at Manjeri Medical College, will be handed over to the relatives after the post-mortem examination.
