Kannur: Dr. K T Sangeetha Nambiar, Associate Professor in the Oral Pathology department of Anjarakkandy Private Dental College, has been arrested in connection with the death of first-year BDS student R L Nidhin Raj. She appeared before investigating officers after securing anticipatory bail, recorded her statement, and was released on bail.

Nidhin Raj died on April 10 after falling from within the college premises. Chakkarakal police registered a case against teachers under charges of abetment of suicide and provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Sangeetha Nambiar is the second accused in the case. The first accused, Dr. M K Ram, Head of the Oral Pathology department, had his anticipatory bail application rejected by the court and remains at large. Efforts to trace and apprehend him are ongoing.

The case has drawn widespread public attention and outrage, with the victim's family and various organisations alleging that caste-based discrimination and psychological harassment within the campus drove the student to his death.
