Woman Found Murdered, Youth Found Dead in Kanjirappally House; Police Suspect Murder–Suicide

Kottayam: A woman and a young man were found dead inside a house at Morkkol in Kanjirappally, Kottayam. The deceased woman has been identified as Shirley Mathew (45). She was found with her throat slit, while the young man who was with her was found hanging inside the house. Preliminary assessments suggest that the deceased youth is a native of Kottayam district.

The bodies were discovered after relatives and neighbours went searching for Shirley when she could not be reached over the phone. Police are investigating whether the young man died by suicide after killing shirley.

The house has been completely sealed by the police. Inquest procedures will begin only after scientific experts and fingerprint specialists complete their examination of the scene. Kanjirappally police have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation into the incident.
