INTUC Worker Denied Employment Over Son’s LDF Candidature, Joins CITU

Wayanad: Rajan, a longtime INTUC worker in Mullankolli Panchayat, Wayanad, has joined CITU along with eight colleagues after being denied employment because his son is contesting as the LDF candidate in the upcoming local body elections. Rajan had been an active INTUC member for 22 years prior to this incident.
Rajan’s son, C.R. Vishnu, is the LDF candidate from the 18th ward of Mullankolli Panchayat and serves as the SFI Wayanad district vice president. Following the announcement of his candidature, Rajan was reportedly blocked from going to work by INTUC members. They allegedly demanded that he compel his son to withdraw his nomination and threatened that he would not be allowed to continue working unless he complied.
Speaking to the media after the incident, Rajan expressed his disappointment, stating that he had remained a loyal and active INTUC member for more than two decades and had never spoken against the organization. He emphasized that his son’s political decisions are his own and that he will not be pressured to interfere.
Rajan and the eight other former INTUC workers—Shaji, Babu, James, Kader, Josutti, Manoj, Ibrai, and Shaji—were formally welcomed into CITU at a program held at the Pulpally Area Committee office by CPI(M) representatives.
