IMD Issues Orange Alert for Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam as Heavy Rain Looms

Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has revised its weather warning for Kerala, issuing an Orange Alert for Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam districts today. Several other districts remain under Yellow Alert due to the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall. Isolated areas may receive very heavy rainfall ranging from 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm within 24 hours, according to the IMD.
Over the next three hours, isolated places in the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad may experience moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, along with strong winds reaching speeds of up to 40 km/h, the IMD stated.
A Yellow Alert has been issued for seven districts—Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, and Ernakulam—for tomorrow. These regions may witness isolated heavy showers measuring 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
