Thiruvananthapuram: A low-pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal, off the north Odisha–West Bengal coast, after the cyclonic circulation that persisted over the northern Bay of Bengal and adjoining southern Bangladesh intensified on the morning of July 15, 2026, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The system is likely to intensify into a well-marked low-pressure area over the next two days and move northwestwards across north Odisha and the Gangetic plains of West Bengal.

Kerala is likely to receive light to moderate rainfall from July 15 to July 19, according to the IMD.

At the same time, maximum temperatures are expected to remain 4°C to 5°C above normal at isolated places across Kerala on July 15 and 16.

Fishermen Advisory

The IMD said there is no restriction on fishing along the Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts on July 15.
