How is Screening Permission Granted to the Poisonous Creation ‘The Kerala Story’? Truth Must Prevail Over Lies: Chief Minister

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated that we should unitedly reject the second part of the movie “The Kerala Story”, which insults secular Kerala and spreads hatred. The first part was filled with blatant lies and propagated anti-Kerala sentiments. Those behind this hate campaign are the ones who fear Kerala’s secularism and spirit of fraternity. Alongside firmly rejecting propaganda of hatred, we must strongly uphold the values of truth, secularism, and fraternity. Truth must prevail over lies, and everyone should stand together for this, the Chief Minister wrote on social media.

The news that the second part of the film “The Kerala Story”, aimed at spreading hatred against Kerala and undermining our secular heritage, is being released, must be taken seriously. The first part, filled with lies that could not withstand scrutiny, hate, and anti-Kerala propaganda, was created with a communal agenda a fact that the people of this state recognised. That distorted creation, dressed up as a work of art, was widely rejected under the name “The Real Kerala Story.” Those who fear Kerala’s model of fraternity and secularism are the ones behind these successive campaigns of hate.
The false narrative presented by “The Kerala Story” was promoted by Sangh Parivar centers. Even marriages conducted with mutual consent have been falsely portrayed through the lens of communalism and forced religious conversion. They view Kerala with no communal riots and where people of all faiths coexist respectfully with hostility. These forces, which attempt to poison the peace and harmony of our state, are the true enemies of our land.
It is shocking that films created to sow division and hatred in society films like the one named “Beef,” which were once denied permission even to be screened at film festivals can now obtain screening approval.
We must collectively reject attempts to depict Kerala a state leading in sustainable development indicators, a model of law and order, and a land of religious harmony as a center of terrorism. Each of us has the responsibility to demonstrate that Kerala’s secular foundations cannot be shaken by false propaganda.
Alongside firmly rejecting propaganda of hate, we must strongly uphold the values of truth, secularism, and fraternity. Kerala is our pride. Truth must prevail over lies, and we must stand together for it.
