Kochi: The Kerala Excise Department has filed a charge sheet in a drug case involving cinematographer Sameer Thahir and Malayalam film directors Khalid Rahman and Ashraf Hamza. The charge sheet was submitted at the Additional District Sessions Court in Kochi on Thursday, following the seizure of 1.6 grams of hybrid cannabis from Thahir’s apartment.

Along with Sameer Thahir, Khalid Rahman and Ashraf Hamza, the charge sheet also includes their friend Shali Muhammed as an accused. The Excise Department stated that narcotics were used in the apartment with Thahir’s knowledge, though the main drug supplier remains unidentified.

The accused told officials that a man named Naveen from Kozhikode had handed over the drugs, but the Excise Department has not been able to trace him yet.

The case began on April 27, when the Excise team arrested Khalid Rahman, Ashraf Hamza and Shali Muhammed from Sameer Thahir’s apartment near Goshree in Ernakulam. Sameer Thahir was arrested later in connection with the case.

The investigation continues, and the Excise Department is working to identify the supplier of the drugs.
