Eid Ul-Fitr to Be Celebrated in Kerala on Friday Following Moon Sighting

Kozhikode / Malappuram: Eid Ul-Fitr will be celebrated in Kerala tomorrow, in line with Gulf countries, following the sighting of the Shawwal crescent moon.
The announcement was made by prominent religious leaders, including Kanthapuram A. P. Aboobacker Musliyar, Jifri Muthukoya Thangal, Ibrahimul Khalil Al Bukhari, and Panakkad Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal. The crescent was reportedly sighted at Parappanangadi Chettippadi.
Earlier, it has been announced that Gulf countries except Oman will celebrate Eid on the 20th, following an official announcement by Saudi Arabia that the moon was not sighted there. Eid Ul-Fitr will also be celebrated in Oman on Friday if the Shawwal crescent moon is sighted by Thursday evening.
The festival marks the end of a month-long period of fasting and prayers. This year’s celebrations come amid ongoing tensions in West Asia.
