Kochi: The woman who was gang-raped at a lodge in Edappally after being promised a job at a spa has had her statement recorded. Judicial First Class Magistrate Jaiby Kuriakose of Kalamassery visited Ernakulam Government Medical College Hospital, where the woman is undergoing treatment, to record her statement.

The group took the woman to the lodge on the pretext of offering her a job at a spa. After an interview, she was sent away. Later that evening, a Wayanad native who was part of the group invited her back to the lodge, claiming that she had been selected for the job. The woman travelled there in a taxi arranged by the woman who invited her.

The group allegedly forced her to consume beer and drugs, leaving her unconscious. She was then subjected to brutal sexual assault on the night of the October 2nd and again on the 3rd.

The woman managed to escape from the group on Saturday evening after breaking a beer bottle and threatening to take her own life.

Four people, including the spa operator and a woman, have been arrested in connection with the incident.
